We invite you to become part of this initiative to change children’s lives
Children are a vulnerable part of our society – they do not choose which home or circumstances they grow up in. Sometimes it only takes a small contribution to children’s lives to build a bridge for them to better circumstances, for example accommodation money, transport to and from school, remedial teaching or therapy.
https://helpendehand.co.za/bemagtig-n-kind/Each application for help is discussed by a panel and assessed on merit, and each child’s individual needs are taken into account when the applications are considered.
The administration and finances of successful applications are handled by Helping Hand’s social and financial departments and no payments are made directly to parents; all fees are paid to the relevant institution itself.
The funds used for the Empower a Child project form part of the JD Kestell Memorial Fund. This fund is named after dr. John Daniel Kestell, or Vader Kestell, as he was known – one of the most remarkable figures in Afrikaans ranks. In his first years of ministry as a minister, Father Kestell was so affected by the impoverishment of the Afrikaner that he decided to dedicate his life to uplifting impoverished Afrikaners spiritually, culturally and socially. For Father Kestell, education was the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. Solidarity Helping Hand also follows, like Kestell, an approach of upliftment through training to break the cycle of poverty. We invite you to make a contribution to the JD Kestell Memorial Fund so that more children can be assisted through the Empower a Child project.
A small contribution can make a huge difference in a child’s life. With the Empower a child project, a joint initiative of Helpende Hand and Maroela Media, needy children are assisted in different ways to steer their lives in a new direction.
